Buying property in Algeria from Canada
Living in Canada? The distance and time difference call for some planning: power of attorney, transfers and remote visits, step by step.
From Canada: what changes when you buy
The process is the same as in Algeria; these are the things to prepare when you live abroad.
Signing without being there
Signing can be done by a representative in Algeria. The power of attorney is drawn up at the Algerian consular mission for your province; check documents and lead times before you go.
Funding the purchase
Funds leave from a Canadian account, in Canadian dollars. Plan for transfer times and fees with your bank, keep the receipts, and check the payment arrangements with the notary.
Visiting and following up remotely
Depending on your province, Algeria is 5 to 9 hours ahead: video visits happen early in your morning, late in the Algerian day.
A community nearby
A large Algerian community lives in Canada, especially in Montreal: a good network to compare notes on the process.
Properties sold in euros
Some sellers price in euros. The price is shown as entered, never converted.
Buying back home from abroad is stressful
Finding a property is not the hard part. These worries are.
- You can’t visit in person.
- You’re afraid of overpaying (the “diaspora price”).
- You worry about paperwork problems (deed, land register).
- You don’t want to leave it all to family.
- You only spend a few days a year in Algeria.
- You don’t know which agency to trust.

Frequently asked questions
How do you handle the time difference for visits?
We schedule video visits early in your morning, which is the afternoon in Algeria.
Will prices be converted to dollars?
No. Immorio shows no exchange rates: prices appear in the currency the seller chose, dinars or euros.
Do I need to be in Algeria to buy?
Not necessarily. The notarial signing can be done by a representative holding a power of attorney, which you can obtain at your consulate.
How do I know a listing is genuine?
We check that the property exists and review the ownership documents before suggesting you go further. Never pay a deposit without these checks.
Can I view a property without travelling?
Yes: a live video tour with an adviser on site, or a 360° virtual tour when the property has one.
How much does this service cost?
The price depends on the service you choose and is given to you before any commitment. See our pricing or ask for a quote.
Which cities do you cover?
The search covers all of Algeria. On-the-ground support depends on the wilaya, stated for each package.
Do you guarantee the property is legally “clean”?
We check the documents provided and flag anything doubtful, but only the notary certifies the sale and the property’s legal status.
